Basketry is my passion. I began weaving in 1996 after taking a class while visiting in Alaska. Other than that one class, I am mostly self taught and work out of my home in Green Valley, AZ.

While I still weave functional baskets, my basketry has evolved to include pine needle weaving on gourds. Most gourds are left in their natural state (how can one improve on nature??). Occasionally I will dye the gourds with ink dyes. I have become intrigued with the many dried botanicals that are now available (frog's mouth pods, curved pods, lotus pods to name a few) and embellish most of my gourds with these along with beads (having found the whole world of beads at the Tucson gem show)and treasures I find while exploring the desert. Another favorite is the world of fossils - incorporating ammonites, geodes into the weaving, etc. I am intrigued by the colors and shapes in nature so the gourds have an earthy quality that brings me an inner peace as I weave and decorate them. I hope you, too, will experience this same inner peace when you select that perfect gourd for your home or business.
